I want to show you one of the most common mistakes I see people make when attempting to write a google doc outline. They have their head in the clouds and hope their outline looks pretty, but it doesn’t.
It’s funny because the same mistake I see people make is the same mistake I see people make when writing an e-mail. It’s the same mistake you hear people make when typing a sentence or a paragraph.
The problem with this is that you can’t just delete your outline. You have to delete it. It just means it doesn’t show up anywhere on your site. Its a good idea though. I like to think that people who want to copy and paste their outline would prefer to write it in a few paragraphs, but what I like to do is make it so it looks like a lot more of a thing than that, but it just doesn’t have the same effect.
Ok, so what is the point then? To not have the outline at all? Well then you are just in as much trouble as the average person. Google still has the ability to see that you have that little white box over there. The only way to get rid of that is to add the outline to your page. It looks like it has the same effect as just adding a word.
In theory, Google Docs allow you to write text as a whole document, which makes it easier to edit and add to. With a simple outline, you can create and edit large amounts of text without messing around. I like using outlines because they make it easier to edit a page without having to worry about making it look perfect. A lot of people like to have things be perfect, but I think it is more important to maintain a sense of perfection.
One tip I have is to use a word processor to create outlines. The benefit is that it makes it easier to edit a document without having to worry about making it look perfect.
