I love the way people work in the mail. They will just look at you and say, “Oh, I can do all the work I want, but I can’t.” And they will just look at you and say, “Oh, you aren’t really going to be the one doing the work.
People like to do work for you. If you do the work, you get to be the person who will actually do the work. That’s why anyone who has worked with us (or with someone who worked with us) will quickly tell you that if you say, “I dont know what the heck you are talking about,” “How do you know you are the one doing the work?” you get an earful.
A few years ago, we were the only game developer who supported our game in our user community. At first, this was a little hard to understand, but as time went on, we realized that the community and our game were on a similar trajectory. It was also at that point we began to realize that our community and game were actually doing great things. This is especially true now that we have hundreds of thousands of players who use our game every day.
I used to say you have to keep your community and your game separate, but it’s becoming more and more obvious that the community and game are one. We just want to make sure that any time a player asks me for feedback or ideas, we’ve got a conversation going where I get to talk to you about the game. The more time we spend together, the more we’ve learned this isn’t just a game, it’s a community.
It has been a while since we’ve had a community like this, in that we can talk about the game in a casual setting where we can be ourselves and not worry about what people think. At the same time, the game has gotten so large that we dont need much notice to be talking to you about it.
This is very similar to the issue with social media. Before Facebook, people were generally shy to share their life with others, so the idea that we could use email and phones to give feedback and voice to each other was a novelty. It was like getting a call from a friend who doesn’t even exist. Now every time we get a message from a player, it can be a huge help to us because we have a way of finding who you actually are and what you have to say.
The best thing about email and social media is that we can do a much better job of staying in touch with the people we care about. It’s an awesome way to talk to people and share our feelings and opinions, but it can also be a little more “disturbing” because in some cases, we can actually make it seem as though we’ve gained more information about them than they have.
In this case, we’re talking to a guy named Chris, who’s apparently a very important fan of our game. But as a reminder, our goal is not just to know who Chris is, but to know exactly what he’s saying to us right now. This is a particularly common problem because we use Facebook and Twitter to communicate with fans and other players.
This is why some of our fans are very concerned that we will be deleting our fanbase mailchimps. It appears that he’s sent us a message saying he’s heard that we are going to delete our mailing list, and that he’s very upset about it. We’re not going to delete his e-mails either, but we are going to be more careful in our communication.
We know that the e-mail list has been deleted for so many seasons, and we’ve seen a lot of people who have forgotten to delete their e-mails at the last second. When we do this, we make sure that we do it with as few as possible. This is a good thing; the best way to keep your messages relevant to the situation is to keep your message private.
